Best Headshot Photographers in New Jersey: What to Actually Look For

New Jersey has no shortage of photographers who list “headshots” on their website. Picking the right one is less about finding a secret best-kept-secret list and more about knowing what actually separates a great session from a forgettable one. Here is what to check before you book, and how we approach each one.

Six things that actually matter

01

Real direction, not just a shutter click

Anyone can point a camera at you. A good headshot photographer coaches posture, angle, and expression throughout the session so you end up looking like yourself on a good day, not caught off guard.

02

Controlled, consistent lighting

Lighting is what separates a headshot from a phone selfie. It should look the same whether the session happens in a studio or in a conference room. That only happens with a photographer who brings real lighting equipment and knows how to use it.

03

Willingness to come to you

Getting a team of 20 to a studio is a logistics problem most companies do not have time for. Look for a photographer who can set up in your own office or venue with a portable kit.

04

A clear, published price

If you cannot find a straight answer to "how much does this cost" without booking a call first, that is worth noticing. Transparent pricing is a sign the photographer is confident in what they charge.

05

A realistic turnaround promise

Ask when you will actually receive your images, and what happens if you need to add more later. A vague answer here usually means a vague answer everywhere else too.

06

Retouching with a light hand

Good retouching removes a stray hair and evens out lighting. It should not be obvious, and it should not leave you looking like a different person.

How we handle each of these

Photoshoott is run by two photographers, and every headshot session follows the same standard regardless of who is behind the camera. We bring a full portable lighting kit and a laptop for live review, so we can shoot at your office, home, or venue. All we ask for is a room roughly 10 by 12 feet with one power outlet.

Proofs land in your inbox within 7 days. Retouched finals come back within five business days of your picks. If you need an extra image retouched later, that is $35 and your gallery stays live for a month.

Published pricing, before you ask

This is one of the criteria above that is easiest to check for yourself. Here is exactly what a headshot session costs with us:

PackagePriceWhat it includes
Single Look$35060 minutes, one background
Two Looks$52590 minutes, two backgrounds
Team Day$1,200Half day at your office
